


In 1861 officers were permitted to acquire mounted enlisted men's overcoats. This was no problem for the peacetime army, but in wartime it made targets of the officers. The regulation overcoat for officers was a dark blue while that for the enlisted men was light blue. I received a bottle of this tbrough the winery's wine club - opened it last night. on the medium bodied palate, ground pepper with lighter, sweet, red fruits, leather to a continued dry, tannic finish. Juicy coloring, with a powerful nose of cherry licorice, herbs, and some woodys earth notes. a bit tannic & upfront, though very smooth through the grainy finish, very bordeaux like in style. Very smooth and delicate, with a delicate floral nose of plum, black currants & some earthy nuances.

on the palate, blackberry tea & dark, powdered chocolate intertwine, very thick and full bodied, with a tannic backbone through the dry finish. Very approachable, with smooth ripe, dark fruits, earth & a touch of cigar box. surprising, one of the better Silver Oaks i've had. immediately identifiable as S.O, bold nose of woodsy honey, soft & supple, with continued oak overcoating the red currant & spice on the palate, very smooth & user-friendly through the finish. 91Ģ000 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valleyĭecent coloring. more smoother on the palate then i thought, there was continued fruit that lingered into smoked applewood bacon flavors, good balance of flavor on the finish. 92ĭark, rich & brooding, the nose had wet earth, blackberry, plums & raisin. on the lovely round palate, warm roasted peanuts w/ fruit nuances finish with smooth, almost non-existant tannins, wonderful balance. Juicy color, lovely nose of toasty vanilla, assortment of fruits w/ blackberry, strawberry, and milk chocolate. very tannic and grainy, this one is a longer termer. extracted and seductive on the palate, with touches of tobacco leaf, vanilla, and added richness of dark fruits. inky black in color, wonderful expansive aromas of creamy cherry licorice, dark chocolate & subtle brown spices.
